- WAITING FOR THE SECOND COMING
Book by Dave Hunt. The Berean Call 95 pages Paperback Published 2005-04. Description: At last, a book that presents in a concise manner the events leading up to the return of Christ. Dave Hunt, in his characteristic direct style, answers these pervasive questions: Who is the Antichrist? How will he be recognized? What current events indicate that we really are in the last of the "last days"? Using Scripture and up-to-date information, Dave draws the exciting conclusion that, indeed, time is short. He then outlines a biblical response and reminds the reader of the hope we have in Christ. This book instructs, encourages, warns, and strengthens readers to "walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:15,16).
- Review:: 'Powerful sign posts for the return of Jesus Christ This is an intelligent, thoughtful and concise rundown of prophetical truths from the Bible describing the world climate leading up to the return of Jesus Christ--literally--to the earth. This powerfully written little book unmistakeably pinpoints the day in which we're living as that appointed time; the present unfolding global landscape is preparing the way for the Lord's predicted coming. Like the Scripural prophets of old, Dave Hunt reminds us of the sobering reality that Christ is coming to the earth in judgment, not to bring the purported utopian 'peace' that many modern-day false prophets are proclaiming. A MUST read.
- Review:: 'Dave Hunt at his Succint Best Dont let anyone put you off Dave Hunt; this man tells it biblically and clearly. Really so refreshing to read Dave Hunt! This is a short book and is well worth having. Hugh Nicholetts
- Review:: 'Dave Hunt Does it Again - Excellent, Quick Read -- The Wise Shall Understand If you want to understand what is happening in our world today and how it relates to Bible Prophecy, this in an excellent primer. Dave has condensed a difficult topic into an affordable, easy-to-read booklet. I've bought several and given them away. Warning: this book is not politically correct nor does it paint a rose-colored-glasses-view of the world situation. For that reason, many might be offended. But if you would know the significance of what you see in your evening news and in the newspaper, especially regarding Israel and Jerusalem, then this book is for you. You'll want to keep a Bible handy so you can look up all the verse references; I suggest a King James, New King James or New American Standard Bible. Various topics such as Israel, Jerusalem, the Antichrist, the Second Coming, the Rapture, the Signs of the Times, the deception of the Ecumenical Movements that compromise the Gospel, Israel's Rebirth, Islam and the Arab nations' wars on Israel, False Peace, etc. are all covered here. Those who want to know will be informed. Those who don't, will find many reasons to dislike this book. I also highly suggest the reader purchase "When Will Jesus Come?" by Dave Hunt which usually sells for a street price of about $13 and is also available here on Amazon.Com. Iran's president wants to wipe Israel off the map and is developing nuclear weapons to do so. This is exactly the teachings of islam as they believe they will kill all the Israelis at the Last Hour (hadith sahih bukhari 4:52:176-177, 4:56:791, hadith sahih muslim 41:6981-6985). As this is written, Israel is involved in major battles in Gaza and southern Lebanon after some IDF soldiers were killed and some were kidnapped. An 18-year-old Israeli was kidnapped, killed and his body burned, left to be found by Israel. Israel is poised to enter southern Lebanon with tanks and soldiers to cripple Hezbollah (Party of allah). There are also links to Hezbollah from Syria and Iran. These are dangerous situations that could result in the Middle East exploding. The Pharisees could discern the weather by the face of the sky. Jesus said to discern the Signs of the Times by what was going on, especially in relation to the Nation of Israel.
- Review:: 'BOOK IGNORES JESUS' PROPHECY OF "AT THE LAST DAY." This book fails to address the words of Jesus Christ concerning "the last day" in John 6:39-40; John 12:48 and John 5:28-29 which are the basis for the historical view on this subject. We are to interpret the unclear verses of the Bible by the clear ones. This author uses the unclear verses to fuel his speculations. He needs to listen to Jesus Christ. Jesus says: "Everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:40). "At the last day" - not 7 or 1007 years before the last day as this author believes. Jesus says: "There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words. That very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day." (John 12:48) This author needs to accept the very words of Jesus Christ when He says "at the last day." Jesus says: "The hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear my voice and come out. Those who have done good will rise to live and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned." (John 5:28-29) This author ignores the words of Jesus and tries to insert 1000 or 1007 years between Jesus' call and ignores the word "all". (See also John 11:24) See 2 Peter 3:10-13 for a description of the last day. The rest of the Bible agrees with Jesus Christ not Dave Hunt. MIKE
Book by Walker Percy. Picador 368 pages Paperback Published 1999-09-13. Description: Will Barrett (also the hero of Percy's The Last Gentleman) is a lonely widower suffering from a depression so severe that he decides he doesn't want to continue living. But then he meets Allison, a mental hospital escapee making a new life for herself in a greenhouse. The Second Coming is by turns touching and zany, tragic and comic, as Will sets out in search of God's existence and winds up finding much more.
- Review:: 'Meandering stretch of a story This is the first Walker Percy book I have read. I don't believe I'll choose another unless there's compelling reason. Mr. Percy started off well with a good writing style; a little more than half-way through, I realized he was padding the book with irrelevant, fantastic vignettes. This is one of the few books I threw away rather than pass on to a friend.
- Review:: 'Rewarding for a certain kind of reader I first read this novel when I was quite young. I found the chapters about Allie fascinating, and the chapters about Will perplexing and boring, so I skimmed them. This was of course a mistake. As I re-read the novel recently, I realized how huge my mistake was. I was inspired to re-read the novel following the psychiatric hospitalization of a family member, who seemed to communicate easily with his fellow patients and less well with us. I dimly recalled reading a novel about two people who are experiencing some mental problems and connect with each other much better than with the world at large. After a long and peculiar conversation with a book store clerk, I found this book again. Now that I am in my forties, I am a more patient and careful reader, and my life experience has made me far more interested in the ruminations of Will Barrett. It is important to understand that the author is letting us experience what it feels like to be in Will's head, and it is sometimes a strange place to be, where the narrative does not flow easily, and important insights and plot points pop up unexpectedly. I loved every moment of my second reading of this book, and I expect it will become one of the books that I re-read periodically, like Middlemarch.
- Review:: 'Loose Ends This is a very scattered novel with lots of needless repetitions. What was Percy on when he wrote this thing? There are so many loose ends it would take an additional book just to tie them all together. My response to this book is similar to the incessant grunts of the protagonist Will Barrett--"Huh"?, "What"?, "Who"? "Eh"? For me a poor ending and an unsatisfying read. Perhaps I should go back and read it again to see what all these five stars are about.
- Review:: 'Marvelous What's so special about this novel is that the characters maintain complete credibility in almost incredible circumstances. I kept rooting for them al.l the way, hoping their completely impossible romance would issue inter sober (and sanctified) reality. But that's what this author lived.
- Review:: 'Have to read it again This book is filled with quotations and observations that are so easy to fly by. The plot is out there, the characters odd. It is hard to describe it as 'good', rather I would say it is exceptional. Who else today writes this stuff? Simply, Walker Percy is a genius. I have to read it again.

- Review:: 'SDA beliefs reviewed This book is a "no nonsense" review of the beginnings and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
- Review:: 'HA HA Sometimes I have my doubts about the SDA church and I question about the people not the doctrines of the church. First of all SDA's is a recognized denomination like Baptist, Methodist, Catholics, and etc. Our world headquarters is in the Washington D.C. area so we are recognized by many political leaders and US Presidents. To give you a sign of relief we stay out of the political arena in Washington because we strongly believe in the separation of church and state. Point B. Heaven will be a place for all people not for a specific religion because there are saints in all religions. Including non Christians, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, Atheists, or people who never heard the word Jesus. PERIOD! C: Ellen White was a sweet lady who never put her writings above the Bible. Is the peoples fault who twist her writings and that is the main cause for some cultish SDA churches. D: I was a Roman Catholic including my parents. If we never knew about the SDA church then our health would be different. To uphold the U.S. Constitution I am not going to force anyone to accept the Sabbath day but here is a reason why I do in a non religious way. I am a college student and a small business owner. I have stress during the week. I just need one day to set aside everything and relax. Even when I graduate my workload is going to increase because I'll be a professional person. So hey I don't want any chronic diseases.
- Review:: 'It's all about his saving grace. I have not had the opportunity to read the book but I was browsing Amazon and the title and reviews caught my eye. This does not in anyway describe the Adventist church that I have been apart of for 35 of my 39 years. I was educated in in Adventist schools and in my heart I do believe that the adventist church is the remnant church. We do not in any way, shape, or form acknowlege Ellen White over the awesome authority of Jesus christ. We do believe Ellen White to be a prophet, and is definitely inspired, key word, INSPIRED. Ellen White time and time again refers the reader to the holy sciptures. She does not by any means attempt to challenge or belittle the authority of Christ. Yes I do read the writings of Ellen White and I do believe she was a prophet of Christ, and the bible teaches us that we are saved by grace alone so that know man can boast! What an awesome God! In essence, know individual can work his way into heaven, including Ellen G. White. I believe all religious material should be prayfully approached so that the holy spirit can reveal the truth. Perhaps the writer needs to examine himself before writing on a subject that he clearly is clueless about.
- Review:: 'Excellent Book Which Illuminates This is an excellent review of the beliefs of Seventh Day Adventism. From believing that Ellen Harmon White was a prophet, that Christ was Michael the Archangel(what a pernicious heresy!), to soul-sleep, the Sabbath, and the whole nine yards of Adventism, revealing it for what it is: a nineteenth century cult, based on works, with many beliefs coinciding with the Russellite movement=falsely prophecying dates for the end of the world, etc... A small, excellent work.
- Review:: 'SDAs are not themselves false prophets, but . . . Having been a devout and believing SDA for the first 35 years of my life, having gone through 16 years of SDA education, and having been a genuinely sincere and earnest educator in the SDA college system, I feel that I can speak with a fair level of credibility about what Adventists believe. Most practicing Adventists are so overwhelmed by their somewhat closed culture that they are not easily able see just how warped their thinking is. They are generally unable to recognize that theirs is a cult culture. If by the term "cult" one refers to a group (a) that filters all of its religious thinking through a single personality (Ellen White), and (b) that centers its faith around non-biblical doctrines (e.g., the elaborate SDA doctrine of the heavenly sanctuary), based on that personality's visions, then it's difficult to see how the SDA culture is anything other than a cult. This doesn't make all Adventists false prophets, however, which is what the title of this book appears to insinuate. They are neither "false" nor "true" prophets; they are just true believers who (from my point of view) are frozen in a dead and discredited set of beliefs, that even during the nineteenth century were considered strange. To assume the legitimacy of the term "false prophet" presumes a set of beliefs I no longer find viable, but to the extent that the term has meaning for some, I think that E.G. White is a good candidate for being one. I think a more apt title for the book might have been Is Sister White a False Prophet? I would be surprised if any non-SDA who reads about her life and her work as an SDA believes that she is a "true prophet" in the way that SDAs characterize her. However, the true believers inside the SDA fold appear to be completely unable to see her any other way.
